The Example Wesley Set

Wesley Mittman LePatner was an exceptional business leader, devoted mother, trusted mentor and deeply engaged member of her community. As a Senior Managing Director at Blackstone, she served as Global Head of Core+ Real Estate and Chief Executive Officer of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT), following more than a decade at Goldman Sachs.

A Yale graduate, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, Wesley brought the same focus, passion and purpose that defined her upbringing and career to every aspect of her life—raising her children, championing working women as Chair of Blackstone’s Women’s Initiative, and serving on the boards of institutions that resonated greatly with her family and interests.

What made Wesley extraordinary, however, was not simply what she accomplished, but how she showed up for others.

She believed deeply in the power of investing in exceptional people through mentorship. She made everyone she encountered feel genuinely seen, valued and challenged to be their best selves. She had a gift for seeing virtue in others even when they didn’t recognize it in themselves or realize their true potential.

People knew that when they asked Wesley to take something on—and she accepted—they would always get her absolute best effort. She saw that not simply as a reflection on herself, but as a show of deep respect toward whoever afforded her the responsibility.

On July 28, 2025, Wesley was senselessly killed in a mass shooting at her workplace in New York City. She was 43 years old.

In the months that followed, those closest to her returned to a simple question: How do you honor a life defined by extraordinary leadership, service and an unwavering commitment to others?

The answer became The Wesley Mittman LePatner Foundation—a living expression of Wesley’s values and her enduring belief that real leadership is the balancing act of not only climbing the ladder, but also the hardest work of pulling everyone around you up at the same time.

The Wesley Standard

At the core of everything Wesley did was a set of values she lived without compromise.

These values equipped her with a rigorous work ethic, grounding and humility. They served as a compass, always pointing her in the right direction, and gave her the wisdom to understand that one can never build anything truly great alone.

These values are not simply the inspiration for the WML Foundation's work—they are the standard by which we operate.

Company values displayed along two curved lines: Commitment to excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, Hard work, and Discipline on one side; Generosity with a purpose, Humility, Loyalty, Respect, and Warmth on the other.

Investing in Leaders.

Strengthening Communities.

Strengthening our most exceptional leaders and building a strong and active community of those
who share Wesley’s values are the chosen expressions of the WML Foundation’s mission.

Wesley Leaders is a highly selective, 24-month leadership accelerator for exceptional private-sector professionals who are committed to creating meaningful impact beyond their careers. Designed around three interconnected pillars—professional excellence, civic engagement and philanthropic impact—the program prepares its Fellows to lead with purpose across every aspect of their lives.

At the heart of Wesley Leaders is mentorship. Each Fellow is paired with a Primary Mentor and supported by a carefully assembled Mentor Circle, bringing together accomplished leaders from business, philanthropy, civic life and beyond. Through meaningful relationships, shared experience and ongoing guidance, Fellows develop the judgment, perspective and sense of responsibility that define enduring leadership.

TeamWesley extends the WML Foundation’s mission by enabling those inspired by Wesley and her approach to life to connect, learn, support one another, and expand their impact.

Through educational programming, service initiatives and partnerships with the places, organizations and institutions that mattered to Wesley, TeamWesley will bring people together to drive meaningful action that strengthens and elevates communities.

Every gathering will be designed to move beyond conversation and toward action—connecting like-minded individuals across generations, professions and backgrounds, while creating meaningful ways to engage more fully in civic life.

Beginning in New York City and expanding over time, TeamWesley will build a community rooted in the belief that lasting impact is created when values-aligned individuals come together to amplify their efforts and strengthen the fabric of our cities.
